The Story Behind "Rent Honey"
At Leeco Farm, we proudly carry on a cherished family tradition that dates back 75 years. It all began with Darren’s grandfather, PawPaw Fain, a humble beekeeper with a passion for both his craft and his community. PawPaw Fain recognized the importance of pollination for not only his own apiary but also for the gardens and pastures of his neighbors. To ensure his bees had ample space to forage and diversify their sources of nectar, he made arrangements with his neighbors to keep his hives on their properties.
In an act of gratitude, kindness, and fair compensation, PawPaw Fain started the tradition of delivering a jar of "rent honey" to each of his neighbors every summer. This honey, harvested from the very hives that had lent their services during the pollination season, quickly became a coveted and treasured offering.
Now, in the present day, we, at Leeco Apiaries, proudly carry on this family legacy. Darren Earl, PawPaw Fain's grandson, has taken on the responsibility of continuing the tradition, ensuring that our "rent honey" reaches the homes of our neighbors. Our "rent honey" is more than just a jar of honey. Each jar is a unique reflection of the specific bee yard from which it originates. The flavors and nuances capture the essence of the diverse floral sources surrounding our hives, resulting in a truly distinct and exceptional Texas raw honey.
We hope that you, just as PawPaw Fain's neighbors did in a time when kindness and good deeds were abundant, will come to love our Texas raw honey. It is a testament to the harmony between the bees, the land, and the generous spirit that has been weaved into every jar of "rent honey" that we produce.
As you savor the golden sweetness of our honey, remember that each jar carries with it a story of community, appreciation, and the bond between humans and nature. By supporting Leeco Apiaries, you are not only indulging in the finest honey but also becoming part of a timeless tradition that honors the legacy of PawPaw Fain. Join us in celebrating the beauty of raw honey and the connections it fosters by experiencing the story behind each jar of "rent honey" from Leeco Apiaries.
